Petrozavodskmash starts manufacturing pumping equipment for Kudankulam nuclear power plant, power unit 5
Posted on March 23, 2022
Petrozavodskmash, AEM-Technologies, JSC Branch (part of the machine-building division of Rosatom State Corporation – Atomenergomash) starts manufacturing guide vanes for the casings of reactor coolant pump sets (RCPS) for the power plant Kudankulam nuclear power unit 5 (Republic of India).
The first guide vane has already passed assembly and welding operations. As for the other three guide vanes, the quality of fit was inspected and Petrozavodskmash workers began welding operations.
The guide vane refers to the internal components of the RCPS and consists of upper and lower discs, between which 13 guide vanes must be welded. The guide vane must be rigidly mounted in the pump casing and is intended to regulate the centrifugal direction of the coolant flow inside the pump. The RCPS box is the first element of the security class. The nuclear power plant equipment of a power unit includes four RCP sets.
Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is a nuclear power plant equipped with VVER-1000 reactors located in southern India, in the state of Tamil Nadu. The Engineering Division of Rosatom State Corporation and the Nuclear Power Corporation of India signed an agreement on the construction of the third stage (units 5 and 6) of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in June 2017.
