Michelle MacKinnon, Advanced Master Gardener and Certified Organic Land Care Professional, will return to Newtown to present a program hosted by the Town & Country Garden Club on Wednesday April 13 at the Newtown Senior Center, 8 Simpson Street.

MacKinnon will present its “Garden Container Design Tips And Trends” program. A general meeting will begin at 6 p.m. with a program starting at 7 p.m.

For those who may want a change in their outdoor space but lack the confidence to throw in the “tried but true”, MacKinnon will share information on new container products, plant combinations and design “recipes” that might add some pizzazz to a back porch or patio that’s looking a little tired.

MacKinnon is a trusted gardening expert with a growing following. His talks and articles have inspired hundreds of locals to dig, get dirty and enjoy their gardens.

She is a UConn Certified Advanced Master Gardener and a member of the Connecticut Chapter of the Northeast Organic Farm Association (CCNOFA). MacKinnon lives and gardens in Sherman.

The Town & Country Club designs, plants and maintains the three traffic islands on Queen Street and Glover Avenue. Members, who want to learn more about plants, gardening and design, are also active in many community initiatives that promote healthy gardening practices.

Evening programs are free and open to the public.

Reservations are not required but additional information is available by contacting Denise Rod at denise-marierod@yahoo.com.
