Dublin, May 23, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The “Global Nitrogen Fertilizer Market Outlook, 2027” report has been added to from ResearchAndMarkets.com offer.

According to the research report Global Nitrogenous Fertilizer Market Outlook, 2027, the fertilizer market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.27% by 2027.

Latin America is expected to grow rapidly over the forecast period. Plants need nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium for their growth, but more importance is given to nitrogen fertilizers because they are needed in large quantities and give an excellent response. Urea Nitrogen Fertilizers by product accounted for the highest market share in 2021. Liquid Nitrogen Fertilizers are expected to grow rapidly, but high costs are hampering this substantial growth. Brazil is the fourth producer and consumer of nitrogen in the world. China accounts for nearly 25% of the global nitrogen fertilizer market.

Nitrogen fertilizers come in both dry and liquid forms. Liquid fertilizers are water soluble fertilizers that give a quick response within days or weeks and last 2-6 weeks. While dry fertilizers are also labeled as slow release fertilizers which provide long term nutrients and last for 8 to 12 weeks and in some cases the time extends up to 20 weeks.

Fertilizer use depends on the four Rs which are the right product, the right amount, the right time and the right placement. Fertilizers should be added after soil testing to assess the type and amount of fertilizer deficiency. It also depends on the type of crop, yield quality and production figures. To check whether the soil has lost or retained moisture and seasonal forecasts that would affect crop yields. Nitrogen fertilizer should not be applied to waterlogged fields and avoid tillage in wet lands. Anticipate possible weather conditions and soil saturation before application. During hot summer days, urea should not be used after irrigation as it increases volatilization losses. Less arable land and moderate temperatures lead to repetitive use of fertilizers on the same land. Phosphate fertilizers have a slow growth rate compared to other fertilizers. Fertilizer raw materials are highly fragmented and unevenly found around the world, resulting in very high transportation costs.

Urea as a nitrogen fertilizer is widely used; considering its easy availability, easy application and low cost. Nitrogen protects plants from wilting and pale yellow. It is essential for all vegetables, but an excess can lead to slow root growth and excess foliage. Vegetables that need high levels of nitrogen are beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, green leafy vegetables, potatoes, leeks, and spinach. Average or balanced levels of nitrogen are needed for asparagus, eggplant, lettuce, onion, garlic, bell pepper, tomato and sweet corn. Carrots, cucumber, beans, peas, radish, turnip require less nitrogen. Rice, wheat and maize are the three main cereals that explain the maximum use of nitrogen fertilizers.

The COVID-19 pandemic has moderately impacted the nitrogen fertilizer market landscape. The confinement imposed to combat the spread of the pandemic has limited the production and supply of fertilizers, thus affecting agricultural production activities. Producers are solving the challenges caused by the pandemic and adapting to the changing dynamics of the sector. Although the government has exempted agriculture from the lockdown; the most severe impact has been on demand for end-use products, limiting market opportunities for fertilizer producers. Several companies have reduced the production and supply of their fertilizers. Many small-scale production units have been forced to close. Labor transit was another problem as migration was restricted and transportation was also affected.
